June 27, 1987 was another milestone for Whitney as her second album, titled Whitney, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200! This made Whitney the FIRST female artist to ever debut at #1 in the U.S. The album was a huge success remaining at the top position for 11 straight weeks, it had FOUR #1 singles and received three GRAMMY nominations, winning for “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me).”
