On November 2, 1997 The Wonderful World of Disney’s Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella aired on ABC-TV in the U.S. The production (starring and executive produced by Whitney with Craig Zadan, Neil Meron and others) earned ABC its highest Sunday night rating in 10 years as it had more than 60 million viewers. Whitney appeared as the Fairy Godmother alongside a racially diverse cast that included Brandy as Cinderella and Whoopi Goldberg as the Queen.
