July 20, 1985 (38 years ago) – “You Give Good Love” became Whitney’s second Adult Contemporary hit, peaking at #4. Arista Records exec Gerry Griffith who attended the recording session said:
“Her first recorded song ‘You Give Good Love’ was a one-take vocal. We were all in the studio in awe. … There’s Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, and then Whitney Houston. Everyone is still trying to copy those three.”
