February 25, 1988, “Where Do Broken Hearts Go” was released as the fourth single from Whitney’s second album Whitney. The song was written by Frank Wildhorn and Chuck Jackson and produced by Narada Michael Walden. In an interview in 2000, Whitney explained how she hated the song and did not want to record it but Clive Davis convinced her it could be a #1 song so she agreed. The song indeed became #1 – her seventh consecutive #1 single – a record for consecutive #1 singles that still stands today!
