Whitney’s cover version of the song (originally by Steve Winwood) was produced by Narada Michael Walden and released on the Japan edition of her album I’m Your Baby Tonight in 1990. The updated Whitney x Kygo version became a worldwide success, hit #1 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart, and the music video surpassed 175 million views on YouTube. “Higher Love” was played immediately following President Joe Biden’s victory speech after the 2020 U.S. election.
