November 6, 1990 (32 years ago) – Whitney’s third album, I’m Your Baby Tonight, was released by Arista Records. She recruited the team of L.A. Reid and Babyface to assist with the album direction, along with previous producers Narada Michael Walden and Michael Masser. Rolling Stone wrote that the album “displayed a slick R&B edge.”
The album reached its peak position of #3 on the Billboard 200 album chart in its third week of release and reached #1 on the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart. Some of its accolades include a GRAMMY nomination for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female for the title song, and a Soul Train nomination for Best R&B/Soul Album, Female.
